Which Version?I've been thinking about this for a little while now, but I want to get some opinions from fellow forumites. I've played 1.09 (just a little bit), 1.10, and now 1.11.1) But what about 1.07?2) What are the pros and cons of playing earlier versions?3) Which ones are harder?I know its fairly easy to get to lvl99 in 1.09, and that seems appealing to me.4) What exactly is 'classic' D2?Obviously if I were to do these installs, they would be in seperate directories, and I would keep the stashes seperate as well.Any other input, thoughts or remarks? V1.06 was the last 'classic' patch, i.e.
Lance WW barbs were king, and cold mastery broke immunities, among others. There were no unique exeptional items, and no Elite items at all. There was no act 5.v1.07, /pX didn't work. Therefore, you're always on /p1, unless you MP.
There's quite a large v1.07 crowd at another SP forum. There is an excellent guide to v1.07 in the FAQs by repusz. Charms were completely unbalanced too (I think you could get something like +15 max damage on a small charm).v1.09d: most common version of this patch, where CtC affects worked. Also, /pX went up to /p64. It was much easier to get to clvl 99 in this patch.
MF was improved, but it is nowhere near the levels that v1.10 brought it to. Also, runewords weren't all that great (except for Lionheart and Stealth, and the rarely made Silence). I played barbs throughout this patch on bnet, because I knew they could deal with PI's (via zerk). There were no 'guest monsters' yet, and there were TC 90's items (Stormspire and the 3 elite items from the Griz set were here. Hakai no Tenshi estimated that he ran pindle 30k times for his Stormspire, the rarest item in the game, which then completed his grail). As for which is harder?
I'd say either v1.06 or v1.07. I haven't played either, but from what I read, v1.06 is tough simply because you can't rely on uniques to carry you through the game. Rares were king here, and could get some amazing stats.
There was no /pX, so character could finish the game in the low 60's, or lower.v1.07 wasn't played much (on bnet) because by the time it was released, they Bliz had v1.08 nearly done.08 wasn't played very long before.09 came out, which we all played for many a year, until the current v1.10/.11/.11b was released.crg. Now that I think about it, 1.09d can only go to players8, only 1.09b can go to players64 iirc.Taken from the FAQ's2.01 What is the '/playersX' command?Starting with Lord of Destruction 1.09, Blizzard allowed SP players to simulate games with multiple players. Monster life increases, and so does the experience they generate. This command largely removes the need for tedious levelling-up in early parts of the game.To use the command in 1.10, hit, type '/playersX' where x is a number between 1 and 8. For example, '/players8' spawns monsters with the same life and experience you would find in an 8 person multi-player game. This setting can be changed at any time, but the new setting will only affect monsters that haven't spawned yet.
Sometimes you might have to travel several screens before noticing the increased life.In patch 1.09 the command was entered without the '/'. The 1.09a and 1.09b patches allowed the players setting to be set as high as 64.Also from FAQ'sDiablo 2 Lord Of Destruction 1.09 - The predominant patch both on Single Player and the realms for a long time. The 1.09 patch comes in several different flavours - the mostly common played were 1.09b and 1.09d. Why play 1.09b? Items with 'Chance to cast' upon striking/being struck do not work in single player in 1.09d. In addition, 1.09b allows 'playersX' settings as high as 64.
Diablo 2 Lod Patch
In all other respects the patches are essentially identical. To downgrade from d to b, you only need to replace the 'd2game.dll' file. Some good thing when you played 1.07:1.
Frozen Orb can harmed cold immuned monster, cold mastery REDUCES cold damage unleashed on you by monsters.2. Druid tend to run like activated frenzy speed. I mean how fast is lv20 frenzy with lv 20 increased speed is how fast your druid in werewolf form can run in a city.
Diablo 2 Lord Of Destruction Patch
Is a bug i think cause when i play druid and accidentally hit window key while my druid shapeshifting half way, then i come back to the game. And everyone walk at the same pace while i walk like flying.:tongue:3. Unique items are easily earned with 250% MF.
